Stray Animals and Birth Control

Part 2

Most people who donate to "animal protection" organizations that opportunistically promote castrating of all animals, have a castrated animal which they use as a "pet" or a companion without the right to an own sexuality themselves. An animal which is used as a child replacements or a castrated "handy companion", something not allowed an own sexuality and not allowed own rights and an own dignity. After all, hey, they're just animals, right? They don't need own rights, an own dignity, an own sexuality or a keeping and handling appropriate to the species (which would mean including ALL aspects and needs of the species in question, including its sexuality).

Promoting castration of all animals serves such "animal welfare" organizations to generate donations by people who want to use animals as sexually mutilated child replacements or companions. As things which are sexually mutilated just to serve the entertainment or usage by their owners.
We of the Organization for Animal Dignity feel that animals are NOT here just for the mere entertainment or usage of animal owers. Thus it is not justifiable to sexually mutilate animals just because that is an extremely convenient way of getting rid of the responsibilities which come naturally with every living animal. Not even if such animal owners call themselves and think they are "animal protectionists".
Animals are NOT pets that here primarily for human enjoyment. They are beings with an own dignity and own needs. And all that goes with it.
You can have animals as pets, great if you do. But only if you consider and respect ALL the needs and aspects of the species and gender in question. That includes everything, every need and every body part of the animal, not only what's convenient to deal with for you.

In Switzerland retarded people used to be castrated up until only about 40-50 years ago. The argument was the same: Birth control.
But it's the same lie. Birth control can be maintained by more considerate means, even for retarded people. So now, castrating retarded people is outlawed in Switzerland and considered an atrocity. Rightly so in our view. Just because a problem is complex and difficult to deal with does not give a stronger or responsible party the right to ignore or trample the rights and needs of a weaker party.
Vasectomy (tubual ligitation) is a bit more expensive than castration and for the operating veterinarian maybe not as sadistically satisfactory, but it spells worlds of difference in terms of ethics and in maintaining the dignity and rights of animals to physical and sexual integrity. And this should be the real cause of any sincere animal welfare organization: Not the amount of donations they can generate by saying things which please animal owners and animal users, but the rights and the dignity of animals themselves.
