Stray Animals and Birth Control
By: Mark Schmid
Version: 2007.06.05

Part 1

A lot of people, especially members of animal welfare organizations ask what should be done about stray animals if castration is to be treated as the unethical and severe sexual mutilation which it is.

Stray animals are a BIG problem, and they will always be, with or without castration.
The real problem is, they shouldn't be there in the first place at all. Someone should take responsibility for them.
Just cutting off their sexual organs and then throwing them out again is NOT right, not for the animals, not for their dignity and NOT for what it communicates about how animals should be treated.
What's even more NOT right, is propagating to castrate all animals and taking away their sexuality, no matter if they are stray animals or not. And that's exactly what a lot of so-called "animal welfare" organizations are doing.
And finally, worst of all, castration is NOT necessary at all. The fact is, birth control can be maintained by responsible gender separation such as every horse or dog owner should be able to do or, for stray animals such as cats, with
vasectomy (tubual ligitation) instead of castration, just like we humans do it for ourselves.

Contrary to the lies spread by many "animal welfare" organizations, the ugly truth is that really, most donating people want to have a "cute" little "pet", a "child replacement", something to use as such as conveniently and with as few responsibilities as possible. That means with as few own needs which must be taken into account as possible. Especially not with anything such as an own sexuality. Propagating sexually mutilating animals therefore is extremely convenient for people who use animals in this manner or for organizations which make their living from donations of such people.
Such people want to "use" animals as pets, for entertainment or as companions, etc., but they do NOT want the responsibilities associated with animals. Instead of realizing the needed responsibilities, they simply just mutilate the animal and cut off every body part they can get rid of without making the animal unusable for their specific usage.
And that, among other things, has a dramatic effect on the respect of the dignity of animals in our society both due to the extremely high number of cases as well as due to the lack of fighting it by so-called "animal protection" organizations.
