For these reasons, and perhaps because of these experiences, because I was extremely horny myself when I was a teenager and thus know from first hand, from my own body what it is like to be extremely horny, I know that it is a mistake and a grave misconception to believe that animals would really "suffer" from hornyness or from unsatisfied sexual needs. Usually it is the responsible humans only suffering from watching because of a feeling of guilt. They feel guilty because they are not aware that this condition is also pleasurable and therefore means quality of life and not just "suffering" as it might look like to someone who has never experienced the same feelings.
If being horny which leads to erections in male beings would truly make male beings suffer, more so than it rewards them with even stronger positive and good physical feelings, the erection would naturally go away and male beings would actively seek to evade situations where they get horny or get erections. Except for humans who wear uncomfortably tight pants or who follow specific moral, religious or social rules, the contrary is true however. Even without sexual satisfaction, male beings seek situations where they are made horny and get erections, just for the pure physically pleasurable feeling connected with it. Sexual satisfaction in male beings occurs through orgasm and ejaculation only when the pleasure of feeling good and horny was increased more and more to a point where the body finally thinks it's feeling so incredibly good right now, that it seems like a good time to release its semen for reproduction. With castration, you permanently remove the body's ability to ever feel good in that natural manner again and nobody, not man nor woman, has the right to do that to another body, to another living being, no matter what species. Only time and high age may do so.
Unfortunately for animals, many people, especially women believe that animals would work very differently than male humans on a sexual level, that animals would not be capable of feeling sexual lust or sexual pleasure, that, like some women, they are incapable of experiencing orgasm and that when they have sex, just like some women, they do it only either to please others (such as their owners) or to produce offspring and become parents, as a mindless involuntary act that is not associated with any kind of physically and emotionally pleasurable feelings. They couldn't be more wrong and who has ever looked into the eyes of a stallion having good sex with a mare should truly know better.
Yet it's very hard to prove to people what animals truly feel. That has always been the problem of animal protection. Despite that I have assembled some image and video documents on our internet site which clearly show that animals engage in sexual activities even when there is absolutely no chance that they are doing it to produce offspring or to try to please someone else, such as during masturbation or engaging in homosexual or even zoosexual acts. Even if religious fundamentalists and people who always know everything better cannot be convinced by anything, I still believe that these image and film documents are a strong testimony to and a documentation and proof of animals' natural and general enjoyment of sexual activities independent of reproduction and thus of their ability to feel sexual lust and pleasure in connection with sexuality and their sexual needs, even when not satisfied and that they therefore are most valuable for the enlightenment and education about animals and therefore for animal protection. In my opinion such documents make it scientifically impossible to take away the sexuality even of solitarily kept and sexually unsatisfied animals through such means as castration without admitting the severe violation of animal protection, animal rights, animal interests and animal dignity which such an act consists of.
